Day 1, Thursday – Montego Bay

Jamaica’s second city greets you with promises of pleasure.  Much to see, feel, and experience, your Jamaica Discovery 15 days Tour has officially begun. The lush land and idyllic breeze embrace. The mountainous beach town that is Montego Bay, is bordered by turquoise sea and softly reverberates reggae rhythms, displaying island art and fine cuisine; a true feast for the senses.  Check in at your hotel and experience hospitality at its finest. There are no planned activities until the welcome meeting with your Tour Leader and other group members – the Hotel front desk will inform you of the meeting time and location.

Day 2, Friday – Montego Bay (B, L)

Jamaica Discovery included activity – a day spent with the Rastafarians at the Rasta Village – learn their history, lifestyle choices and their use of plants as remedies; eat their “ital” food.  Commune with the Rastafarians, play Rasta drums and chant theirs songs. This encounter is fully guided by Rastafarians who will meet the group at the Montego River Gardens to lead you into “a day in the life” Rastafari experience.  Truly an entertaining uncovering of a unique subculture that is unparalleled in its influence on Jamaica’s celebrity.  .

Day 3, Saturday – Montego Bay/Negril (B)

From Montego Bay we’re off to Negril… Jamaica Discovery included activity: group transfer to Rick’s Cafe on the western edge of the island and experience the amazing Negril Sunset and the thrill of cliff diving. Whether you’re brave enough to take the plunge, or just happy to watch the locals take dives from the tops of trees before the sun sets, this is one of Jamaica’s ‘must see, must do’ activities.

Day 4, Sunday – Negril (B)

Seven miles of white sand beach will call, and your response will be languorous moments of pure pleasure; all day just soak it up! Walk the beach, visit the cliffs, rock dive, scuba dive, wind surf, parasail or do nothing at all and relax in a hammock – our Negril home is the launching pad to the perfect Jamaican nights.  We recommend that you check out a live Reggae show on the Beach.  Do as much or as little as you like– Negril is yours.

Day 5, Monday  – Negril/Treasure Beach (B)

Departing Negril we take on another Jamaica Discovery included activity designed to lift your spirits – Appleton Estate Rum Factory.  See sugar cane become magically transformed into Jamaica’s Premium Rums. Head into Jamaica’s picturesque countryside for a taste of the past and present. The Appleton Estate first distilled rum in 1749. Learn how this luscious liquor goes from sugarcane, to molasses, then sugar, and finally becomes Rum.  Sample blends for age, taste and strength, then pick up a bottle (or two) to take home.  CAUTION:  this tour ends with you being given access to the bar where you are allowed to serve yourself!

From Appleton we head to Treasure Beach with a stop in Middle Quarters (famous for peppered shrimp) to experience Jamaican street food for lunch or you can opt instead to try our local fast food – patty (chicken, beef, vegetation, shrimp, etc)

Day 6 and 7, Tuesday and Wednesday – Treasure Beach (B, L)

Wake up in Treasure Beach which is not on the average tourists’ radar, and we hope it stays that way!   One of the quaintest spot on earth that will seamlessly claim you as a Local. Spend the days enjoying paradise any way you want.  Opt to take the Jamaica Discovery signature Dolphin Quest Black River Safari Experience, which is a local boat ride to search for dolphins and crocodiles in their natural environment. Travel about 10 minutes offshore to await dolphins on their morning swim. From there, head to where the Caribbean Sea meets the Black River and cruise upstream to see the Jamaican crocodile and over 100 spices of birds native to the Black River Morass . See how the locals use the river for their livelihood – fishing and shrimping.  Once you arrive upstream you’ll stop at the Jamaica Discovery spot where you’ll have a local lunch and make like Tarzan and Jane and have a swim in the rejuvenating waters of the Black River.  Believe it or not today’s highlight is yet to come; leaving Black River our next destination is Pelican Bar. PELICAN BAR: picture a mass of driftwood, nailed together to create a basic structure, covered by a palm thatch roof and supported by stilts, sitting on a sandbar in the middle of the ocean. This quaint island-in-the-sea lounge is like nothing you’ve ever seen –at Pelican Bar, have a drink, swim, sunbathe or just chill and soak up the lazy sun-drenched vibe.

Other options to enjoy from Treasure Beach are YS Falls, Lovers Leap which are also highly recommended.

Day 8, Thursday – Treasure Beach/Kingston (B)

Having charted a course for Kingston, the anchor will drop in Jamaica’s capital city and heartbeat.   Once in Kingston you’ll do a Jamaica Discovery included activity which is a visit to the national monument of Devon House, built in the late 19th century by George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first black millionaire. Soak in the Victorian opulence of the building, furnished with antiques from Jamaica, England and France. Stroll the gardens and enjoy the serenity of the setting, an oasis within Kingston’s hustle and bustle. The famous Devon House Ice Cream is included and is your treat at the end of the tour!

Day 9, Friday – Kingston

Jamaica Discovery Included activity: Bob Marley Museum – the Bob Marley Museum is an excellent opportunity to learn about the history of Jamaica’s most famous musician. The museum is located at Bob Marley’s former residence, and you will be walking in his famous footsteps as you hear his unique and impactful story.  You’ll also have the options to visit Marley’s Trench Town culture yard and Tuff Gong Studios.  With a little more energy, explore Kingston’s famous nightlife, full of reggae music and good vibes.

Day 10, Saturday – Kingston

What do you want to do? It’s your vacation, your call. Your options are relax, sunbath and navigate your way through the numerous cocktails your willing bartender at the Hotel will concoct for you; or take a tour of Port Royal, 14th century stomping ground of some of the “New World’s” most infamous and often notorious pirates; follow your guide and view the evidence of Jamaica’s swash-buckling era, or take a boat trip to Lime Cay, Kingston’s offshore paradise – a private haven, 15 minutes off Port Royal. This limestone key on Jamaica’s south-east coast offers white sand and excellent snorkeling. Relax and wave to the passengers flying overhead as they take off and land at the nearby international airport, or discover Kingston on a city tour. Get into the modern culture and take a dancehall dance class.  Leave the city behind for the day and venture up into the famous coffee-producing Blue Mountains. The lush hills and fresh air are a nice break from the coastal heat. Tour a coffee plantation or two and enjoy a cup of the area’s black gold.

Day 11, Sunday – Kingston/Portland: (B, L)

En route to Portland, you’ll stop at Charlestown for another Jamaica Discovery Included activity: Charlestown Maroon Experience – a journey into history, learn the story of the Maroons – runaway slaves who fought against the British during the 17th to 19th centuries. Participate in indigenous dancing, singing and drumming with the community members. Learn how to blow the Abeng and get served a tradition Maroon food for lunch then relax by the river close by.

Day 12, Monday – Portland (B)

Your options are a trip to the famous Rio Grande where you’ll experience the calming effects of rafting down the river, or visit the Blue Lagoon, an azure abyss of intrigue, or trek to Boston Jerk Centre to taste Jamaica’s spicy contribution to the culinary world – having seconds is legal! Scuba dive, snorkel, Portland is known to have some of the best dive sites in Jamaica.  Visit the Reach or Somerset Falls or the Nunsuch Caves…much to do and so little time.

Day 13 & 14, Tuesday and Wednesday – Portland/ Ocho Rios (B)

Next stop, Ocho Rios. Visit Dunn’s River Falls where climbing the waterfalls is a once in a lifetime experience – Dunn’s River Falls are like nature’s giant stairway leading down to the Caribbean Sea. Other things to do include visiting Bob Marley Mausoleum, Dolphin Cove to swim with the dolphins, or visiting Fern Gully and find yourself in an Amazon-like rain forest, or go horseback riding in the Caribbean Sea, River Tubing or just go shopping – Ocho Rios offers craft shopping, intricate but affordable pieces that will serve as sentimental reminders of your time in heaven.
